This specialist week at MoaAlm Mountain Retreat, the remote home for your Austrian winter holiday, is centered around adults who want to learn skiing. MoaAlm stands proud at 1800m and in close proximity to the Großglockner Resort. We will offer two learn to ski groups, for beginners and intermediate skiers. The holiday combines ski lessons with daily yoga classes, guided snow-shoe hikes and plant based meals at our cosy mountain home.
Ski – Beginner Level: Always fancied the idea of skiing but feel like you have left it too late in life to try? This group is ideal for anyone who has never skied before. Your local ski instructor will provide a fun, no-pressure environment for you to try out skiing for the first time. You will learn the basics such as gliding, snow plough, braking and simple turns. The aim is to ski safely on blue slopes.
Ski - Intermediate Level: You can already ski on blue slopes and feel ready for more? This group is for those who have already gained some experience and want to master the red slopes. You will work on your technique, practice parallel ski control and to learn to ski more dynamic turns on blue and red slopes. The aim is to gain confidence in different snow conditions and steeper terrain.
Date: 18-25 January:
This specialist week requires a minimum of 6 participants. We will confirm the program as soon as possible, and by the 15th December at the latest. The group lessons are for a minimum of 3 participants and limited to a maximum of 8 participants. If you wish to come with friends or family who already know how to ski or are keen to try out snowshoe hiking or cross-country skiing while you are in your ski lessons they are welcome to join. We are also happy to arrange private ski lessons on request.

Saturday is arrival day. We will have a welcome drink and a 3-course dinner, get to know each other and discuss plans and wishes for the week to come. On Sunday you will have the chance to join a morning Yoga class followed by a delicious breakfast. We will then offer a snowshoe hike from MoaAlm to the valley and accompany you to the village to get you set up with your ski equipment rental. In the afternoon there will be freshly baked cake and you can enjoy the views from our wood-fired hot tub. On Monday the sun is shining and we're looking for an early start! After breakfast we will drive you to the local ski resort to buy your ski pass and meet your ski group and ski instructor. The lessons will always be 2 hours in the morning (10-12), lunch and then two hours in the afternoon (13:30-15:30). Back home at MoaAlm in the afternoon you will have the option of joining a restorative yoga session. On Tuesday and Wednesday you can join sunrise yoga and 4 hours of ski lessons each day. Back at the house we will recover with a hot chocolate and freshly baked cake. On Wednesday evening dinner is at one of the restaurants in the village. There will be a 'day-off' on Thursday. You could take a day trip to the picturesque town of Lienz, do some ski practice on your own, try your hand at rodeling down our 3km sledge track or just rest and recharge your batteries at MoaAlm! On Friday we offer a morning yoga class and a snowshoe hike for the whole group to explore the unspoilt nature away from the slopes. In the afternoon you can take a last muscle soak in the hot tub before a final evening meal dinner with your new friends. Departure is on Saturday morning after breakfast.
Großglockner Resort: With 47.1 kilometers of slopes, the Großglockner Resort is the largest ski area in East Tyrol. It provides fantastic conditions for experts and beginners and majestic views of Austria’s highest mountain. Prices for lift passes and equipment rental are generally lower than in most other parts of the Alps. We also love the fact that it is a quieter resort, no waiting times at lifts and huts!
We will send a detailed packing list after booking. Skiing equipment can be rented in the local sport shop in the village. We will help you to get you set up with everything you need on Sunday. Check-out the websites below for more details or contact us if you have any questions.
